After six months with a reduced sales tax rate, the rate will return to 19% in January. Studies had shown that the tax cut had not overly stimulated consumers to buy. Now many retailers are again faced with rewriting cash registers and labels. Price changes are relatively laborious processes. What technologies are actually helping retailers streamline these processes? Cloud-based checkout systems, electronic price tags and what else? We have compiled an overview of some of the solutions:

Selfcheckout:

The POS system for iOS and Android enables a fast checkout process according to your wishes - as a touch screen for checkout, customer display, barcode scanner, ...

The checkout is RFID- and EAN/GTIN-enabled and thus supports various omnichannel functions, such as dropshipping, click & collect, or in-store orders. Since the customer now "checks out himself", the staff saves time at the checkout and can use this time gained for customer advice, for example.

In addition, you gain full control over all sales and goods movements, cancellations and returns, as well as a permanent overview of the current stock levels in the stores and central warehouses. This way, out-of-stock situations can be reduced at the same time.

The self-checkout solution enables fast training thanks to direct and simple processes and equally fast transaction processing. It also allows you to capture customer data for individualized customer loyalty promotions - easily integrated with a CRM / loyalty card system.

Electronic Shelf Labels:

Manual product labeling is one of the biggest time wasters for staff at the POS. As a result, it blocks valuable resources for increasing sales through better customer service. It also blocks truly dynamic pricing, which would allow you to control promotions and targeted sales at the touch of a button. Here, too, online retail has so far been far ahead.

Electronic shelf labels change everything: Price mapping is performed without manual intervention by a central control system. With a dynamic pricing policy, you flexibly optimize your contribution margins and staff thus gain time for each individual customer.

At the same time, you establish the prerequisites for a further strategic step: In the coupling with RFID near-field recognition, regular customers can be identified directly at the product, who are linked to your loyalty system via app. You can retain and inspire these VIP customers with personalized pricing.

Price Change Solution:

Price changes are often confusing and involve a lot of effort. Employees have to relabel as quickly as possible without errors. This inevitably leads to errors, you lose track of what's going on and, in the worst case, discussions arise at the checkout if the label price differs from the price in the POS system.

Automating these processes saves time and ensures less stressed employees.

Syspro's price change solution takes the information about promotions or similar from the merchandise management system and is thus always on the same level as the POS system. When the products are scanned, the system recognizes whether a change has been made and prints a new label - or not. This means that this process does not have to be carried out by specialist personnel and the re-labeling can be controlled centrally.

The result: fast, error-free relabeling, no fraud due to manual relabeling of red price labels, generally visually higher quality price changes and thus - satisfied employees.
